Ontario’s employment laws are woefully out of date and out of step with the current jobs market. Part-time, temporary and contract jobs are becoming the norm, along with erratic scheduling and contract-flipping. Workers also face major barriers to joining and keeping a union.

The Ontario government is currently in the process of reviewing employment laws. We now have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to make the changes Ontarians need – now and for the future – to create a fairer, more equitable economy.

This pledge is a commitment to get involved in the campaign to raise the bar for all workers, in all jobs and sectors, right across the province.

I pledge to:

  • Get involved in the Make it Fair campaign in my community, through my local union and labour council;
  • Talk to my co-workers, family members and friends about the need to change employment laws;
  • Work alongside community partners, including the $15 and Fairness campaign;

I know that by working together, we can achieve the changes that workers need.
